Wonderful (and Maybe a Little Sad) News!

My beloved customers and friends!

After much consideration (and waffling), I have decided the time has come to begin the process of closing the bookstore. I have been so lucky to have spent the past 10+ years sharing my love of books with you all. As many of you know, owning a secondhand bookstore was a childhood dream I dared to follow. And I have no regrets.

Having the bookstore allowed me to fully embrace my story-gremlin nature. It provided a foundation for me to branch out from. Without the bookstore, I may not have allowed myself the time and space to explore my own writing and find my voice. Without the bookstore, I may not have been able to create the writing and reading community that I rely on today. Without the bookstore, I may not have dabbled in editing and discovered a new dream worth dreaming. All readers are dreamers, so I know you’ll understand what it means to be ready for a new dream, a new story. I am excited to start the next chapter.

Though I am announcing the bookstore’s closure now, it will remain open until December 2024. I am in no great rush to leave and want the opportunity to say in-person goodbyes to you, my fabulous customers. The slow closing will also allow me to have some awesome sales, a few in-person writing groups, and host one last Maker’s Market in the fall.

In my next chapter, I will continue to run my online writer’s groups and focus on my editing and writing life because I will always be a story gremlin. I hope to continue bookbinding and the occasional dabbling in other such craftings, so perhaps you will see me at some of the neighbourhood art markets.

I will be leaving this website and the store’s social media spaces up for a while after closing, though I won’t be actively using them after December. If you want to stay abreast of my activities in the new year, you can do so on Facebook (@cloviseditorial / @genevieveclovisauthor) and Instagram (@cloviseditorial / @genevieveclovisauthor).

Thank you all for your support and encouragement over the years. It has meant the world to me.
